Kahanda Kanda, part of the award-winning KK Collection near Galle , has unveiled a beautiful new spa built high above the palm canopy. The design is a serene, nature-immersed sanctuary offering massages and rituals inspired by Sri Lanka’s botanicals – coconut, cinnamon, black pepper, nutmeg and tea – alongside Thai massage, Dead Sea mud wraps, and consultations with a local Hela Vedakama healer.
The new treetop spa was designed by Rosamond Freeman-Attwood, whose work blends nature and calm minimalism. Open to the jungle canopy, her design creates a sense of peace and connection with the landscape. The spa’s signature treatment is performed by a blind Shiatsu therapist who placed third in the Disabled Olympics for Alternative Therapies last year. Discovered by a Japanese wellness expert, he now works exclusively with KK Collection and has launched a training programme for other blind masseurs in Sri Lanka.
This new addition pairs beautifully with Kahanda Kanda’s private pool villas - each a secluded retreat overlooking Lake Koggala. Guests can combine the spa with curated 4–7-night wellness stays featuring yoga, meditation, guided nature walks and healthy menus designed around local produce.
Kahanda Kanda is ideal for couples, honeymooners, or wellness travellers looking for quiet luxury and a sense of connection with nature. It also works well as part of a twin-centre itinerary with sister property KK Beach, just 15 minutes away on the south coast.
Completing this vision of slow living is the newly opened KK Spa, a treetop sanctuary dedicated to renewal and rest. Rooted in Sri Lanka’s natural abundance, the spa menu combines local ingredients and global expertise: coconut to nourish, cinnamon to stimulate, black pepper to release tension, nutmeg to soothe, and antioxidant-rich tea leaves to refresh. Guests can choose from Kahanda Kanda’s own signature massage, an authentic Thai massage with a specialist therapist, or shiatsu performed by a skilled blind practitioner. Treatments are complemented by steam sessions, Dead Sea mud wraps, and private consultations with a local Hela Vedakama healer, connecting guests to ancient Sri Lankan healing traditions.
Beyond therapies, the spa encourages guests to simply pause. Hammocks, bird song, a gentle breeze, and light spa cuisine invite moments of stillness, while curated four-to-seven-day retreats weave together treatments, yoga, meditation, and mindful meals.
“Our vision with the new villas and spa was never about making promises,” says George Cooper, Founder of KK Collection. “It was about creating spaces that give people time - time to rest, to reconnect, and to appreciate the beauty around them. In today’s world, that’s the greatest luxury we can offer.”
Set on a working tea estate, Kahanda Kanda continues to embody the KK Collection philosophy of blending design with a deep sense of place. With sweeping jungle views, fine dining, immersive experiences, and now new villas and a treetop spa, the property invites guests to slow down and realign in the heart of Sri Lanka.
